About Xaede.com
The Xaede (pronounced “zade”) game portal started when I began experimenting with creating a platform-independent OpenGL (via SDL) 3D game engine written in C in late 2005 code-named Xaede. I began working on the project, and the game engine development went through several iterations during the next several months. Eventually, I turned my attention towards using a Java Applet as a baseline framework for developing a web-enabled 2D game engine for casual game development, to both help further my understanding of game development as well as to provide an avenue for rapid application development (RAD) to begin allowing players to interact with some of my ideas. Thus, the Xaede concept has metamorphosed into both a portal for the web-based 2D games that I am developing while providing a mechanism for maturing my 2D game engine, as well as providing a publicly-visible window into my 3D game development efforts.
